HOME FARM FEST 2014: Great opening night for annual festival

HOME FARM FEST 2014: Great opening night for annual festival

THE opening night of this year’s Home Farm Fest tonight (Friday, June 6, 2014) has been a resounding success.

A decent-sized crowd converged on Home Farm at Chilthorne Domer for the first night of the three-day festival which is raising funds for the Piers Simon Appeal and the School in a Bag initiative.HOME FARM FEST 2014: Great opening night for annual festival

The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir kicked things off on the main Dutch Barn Stage and were followed by local bands BA22 and Storm.

Festival-goers were also able to enjoy more music in the Lloyd Lounge with Carla Jacklin and Wise Intentions, while in The Folkroom Tent were Lucy Cait, Forty Elephant Gang and Feldspar.

There was plenty of stalls and other attractions for people – of all ages – to get involved with and now organisers are keeping their fingers firmly-crossed that the stormy weather expected for Saturday (June 7, 2014) is not as bad as first feared.

Tickets are still available to be bought on the gate – subject to demand. Admission for Saturday is £20 and £15 for Sunday.

Nearly 60 bands and performers will take part in this year’s Home Farm Fest – making it the biggest yet.

Charity liaison officer, Luke Simon, said: “All funds raised at the ninth Home Farm Fest will help us support disaster victims or fund schoolbags for poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster-affected children.”

The Piers Simon Appeal was formed after the death of Piers, a former PrestonSchool and YeovilCollege student, who was killed during the devastating Asian tsunami of Boxing Day 2004 while he was holidaying in Thailand.
