SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Driver taken to hospital after A303 incident

A DRIVER was taken to hospital this afternoon (Tuesday, May 27, 2014) after the 4x4 vehicle he was driving, which was towing a caravan, had gone off the road.

The alarm was raised at just before 12.30pm to the incident on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between the A37 Ilchester junction and Podimore roundabout.

Two fire engines and a rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised and officers found that the 4x4 and caravan had left the highway.

But they discovered that the driver was free and clear of the vehicle and already in the hands of paramedics.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “He was later conveyed to hospital road ambulance.

“Crews made both the car and caravan safe before leaving duty of care with the police.”
