SOMERSET NEWS: Yeovil man, 31, dies in crash

A YEOVIL man died yesterday (Monday, May 19, 2014) as a result of the injuries he sustained in a road crash in Somerset.

A motorcycle with pillion passenger was travelling from Wanstrow to Nunney Catch roundabout along the A359 - between Bruton and Frome - when it collided with a tractor travelling in the opposite direction at around 5.10pm.SOMERSET NEWS: Yeovil man, 31, dies in crash

The pillion passenger, a 31-year-old man from Yeovil, was seriously injured and later died at the scene.

The rider, a 42-year-old man from Frome, was also seriously injured and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

A police spokesman said: “Collision investigators are appealing for witnesses.

“They are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a white van and the driver of a Kia motor vehicle, who were both travelling towards Nunney Catch around the time of the collision and stopped at the scene.

“Police believe both drivers may have witnessed the incident and could have information that is vital to the investigation.”
