SOMERSET NEWS: Woman punched in face during mugging attack

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted mugging in Somerset.

The incident took place on Elmwood Avenue in Bridgwater at around 2am on Friday, April 18, 2014.

A 45-year-old woman was walking along the road when a man attempted to steal her bag. She struggled with the man who then punched her in the face and ran off.

The victim received injuries to her mouth which required stitches as well as further cuts to her left hip during the incident.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the Elmwood Avenue area of Bridgwater at the time of the incident to please contact us with any information they may have, which could help us with our inquiries.”
