YEOVIL NEWS: Raiders steal cash machine from shop

YEOVIL police are appealing for information to trace three men who broke into a convenience shop and stole an empty cash machine.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen a Mitsubishi Shogun in the Yeovil area early this morning (Tuesday, April 8, 2014).

It was seen near the One Stop Community Stores in Runnymede Road just after 3am, and returned at 4.30am when the burglary took place.YEOVIL NEWS: Raiders steal cash machine from shop

A police spokesman said: "Three men in dark tracksuits, wearing hoods or scarves to mask their faces, forced the front door and wheeled the free-standing cash machine out on a trolley. They loaded it onto the back of the 4x4 and drove off towards Lyde Road."

The burned-out vehicle and the damaged ATM were found in a field in West Mudford at 7am. It is not believed the machine contained any money.

Detectives say a car was seen to drive past on Runnymede Road at around 4.30am and they are appealing for that driver to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Yeovil District Targhetinig Team on 101 quoting crime reference number 34863/14.
