YEOVIL NEWS: Pedestrian killed in road smash

POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a woman was killed when she was hit by a car while walking along Stourton Way on the Abbey Manor estate in Yeovil.

The incident happened at just before 9am yesterday (Sunday, April 6, 2014) when a silver Ford Fiesta was in collision with a woman pedestrian.

The woman, who was in her 40s and from the local area, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and an investigation in the collision has begun.

Stourton Way was closed until about 3pm to allow officers to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

A police spokesman said: “If anyone saw the collision or has information which could help the investigation – please call the collision investigation unit on 101.”
