PC Claire Leonard, of Avon and Somerset Police, said: “I would encourage anyone who has suspicions that there might be drug supply or cannabis cultivation sites in their neighbourhood to get in touch with us.

“We will always look into information provided to us by the public.”

The advice comes after police this week discovered a cannabis factory in some agricultural buildings near the village of Stoke St Michael in Somerset.

Officers seized 60 mature cannabis plants thought to have a street value of more than £60,000.

A 53-year-old man was later arrested in Glastonbury on suspicion of production and then released on police bail pending further investigations.
