London Marathon test is on Andrea's bucket list

A KEEN runner is hoping to raise a bucket load of cash for a Yeovil-based charity by completing one of the challenges on her very own "bucket list" – the London Marathon.

Andrea Ledger said that getting a place in the London event had been on her list of “things to do” for the past seven years.

Now she is busy training with the London Marathon on Sunday, April 13, 2014, less than two months away.

“I was thrilled when I found out that I had a place for this year – but now reality has hit and I am having to do all the training in the wind and the rain and the dark nights,” she said.

But she is hoping that the 26.2-miles of marathon pain in London will be worth it as she is hoping to raise lots of money for two charities – the Yeovil Freewheelers and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The Yeovil Freewheelers is a voluntary group providing emergency and routine response for transporting urgently needed blood samples, blood, biopsies, patients notes, MRI scans, prescription drugs, a variety of medical equipment for intensive care units, hospitals, residential homes and nursing homes anywhere in the country.

The Alzheimer’s Society is also going to benefit from Andrea’s efforts. She wants to raise money for that charity as she had a “dear friend” who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

“It would be wonderful to be able to raise a lot of money for these two causes,” she said. “I would really appreciate all your support and I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsors me.”
