A BLOCK of flats in Stoke-sub-Hamdon were evacuated early this morning (Friday, February 14, 2014) because of a fire.
Two fire engines from Martock were mobilised just after midnight to the flats in West Street where officers found one male in a ground floor property suffering from smoke inhalation.
The three-storey block of flats was evacuated as a fire was discovered on the ground floor.
A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “One male casualty was taken to hospital by ambulance.
“An additional flat was cleared of smoke and the cause of the fire was believed to be accidental.”
