Computer boost for South Somerset CAB

THE South Somerset Citizens Advice Bureau has received a generous £5,000 donation today (Monday, February 2, 2014) to help buy some badly needed computers.

Staff and volunteers use computers every day to research the advice that people need. More recently the CAB has started giving advice by email and has set up its own website.

The South Somerset CAB chief executive, Georgina Burton, said: “Having up to date computers becomes more and more important to us as we find ways to improve our service for local people.

“Our volunteers and staff become very frustrated when they have to wait for old computers to load information that they need for their clients.

“We are therefore absolutely thrilled to have received such a generous donation from Battens Solicitors through its Charitable Trust. We know that it will make a real difference in helping our clients.”

Robert Randall, who is a trustee of the Battens Charitable Trust, added: “Every donation made by the Battens Charitable Trust aims to help charitable causes improve the lives of people in the local area.

“We are confident that this donation will make a significant impact to the South Somerset Citizens Advice Bureau and the almost 6,000 local people who come to them for help and advice each year.”
