Please take care on the roads

FIREFIGHTERS and police are urging people to take care on the roads today (Saturday, January 4, 2014) as more heavy rain has led to flooding across the Yeovil and Somerset area.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service has been inundated with calls from around the area with people reporting flooding problems.

Fire crews from Somerton were mobilised to a report of floodwater entering a property and effecting the electrics at an address in Charlton Adam. Please take care on the roads

Firefighters from Yeovil were mobilised at 11.30am to reports of flooding at a home in Church   Lane, Barwick.

And throughout the day the Fire Service has been helping drivers get out of floodwater.

Once again the Fire Service has urged drivers not to attempt to drive through floodwater where it looks too deep.

Roads around Yeovil have been flooded and are passable with caution.

Police have asked motorists to also to adhere to signs which say “road closed.” The A359 at Mudford is closed between Sock Hill and West Camel Road.

Other usual suspect areas along the A37 Ilchester Road between Ilchester and Yeovil, plus the A30 at East Chinnock between Yeovil and Crewkerne, have had problems.

The A3088   Cartgate Link Road into Yeovil is also slow going with flooding in parts and plenty of surface water.

The message to all drivers is simple: Take care.
