Dangerous pit bike riders causing nuisance

YOUTHS are riding about dangerously on an estate in Yeovil on small motorcycles known as pit bikes.

The bikes are smaller versions of dirt bikes and pit bike riding has become very poplar as a sport and pastime – if done in the right environment.

What certainly is not the right environment is charging around on the Abbey Manor Park estate in Yeovil.

A police spokesman, speaking on the Avon and Somerset Constabulary official website, said: “The youths are using pavements and not wearing helmets which obviously puts residents and themselves at risk of serious injury.”

The police have already spoken to several youths involved and “serious words” have been given to them about their future behaviour.
