Yeovil Town fan wants an apology

A YEOVIL Town fan who feared his days of watching the Glovers might have been over after being “branded a hooligan” has been given the news he has been waiting for.

Kieran Conway, 22, was ejected from Huish Park during Yeovil’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Blackpool on December 3, 2013, and then arrested by police on suspicion of assaulting a matchday steward.

Avid supporter Kieran, who lives in Taunton and has been watching the Glovers for nearly ten years, was taken into custody for questioning before being released on police bail pending further investigations.

He was told that he would have to return to Yeovil police station today (Sunday, December 15) as part of his bail conditions.

But Kieran, who works as a barman, said that he received a phone message from the police telling him they were “taking no further action.”Yeovil Town fan wants an apology

“It was a great voicemail to receive – especially after just working a 14-hour shift,” he said.

“I can now start watching Yeovil games again!”

Kieran, who said he felt “humiliated” at what had happened, said he would be taking advice on whether to take further action.

“I was branded a hooligan by Yeovil Town’s stewards,” he said. “But now I have proved my innocence I will be considering if I take things any further with the club and the steward involved. What I want the most is an apology.”

Kieran said he had been “overwhelmed” by the support he had received from fellow Yeovil fans who had seen the incident which had led to him being thrown out at Huish Park.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to all the Yeovil fans who came forward and gave statements,” he said.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support of people – some of whom I don’t even know.”

When he was arrested he was fearing that he would be given a Football Banning Order – stopping him from watching Yeovil Town.

Now the police have decided to take no further action – Kieran cannot wait to get back to Huish Park and support the Glovers.
