Volunteers needed for charity 18-hour bag packing marathon!

VOLUNTEERS are wanted by the Piers Simon Appeal’s School in a Bag team to take part in a charity marathon bag pack at Tesco in Yeovil.

This will be the third year running that the PSA has helped to pack the shopping for customers at Tesco – but this will be the first year where the group has done it for 18 hours!Volunteers needed for charity 18-hour bag packing marathon!

The PSA charity liaison office, Luke Simon, said that last year they raised £768 from donations made by shoppers from between 9am and 5pm.

This year on Sunday, December 21, they will be at the Tesco store for a whopping 18 hours.

“It makes complete sense to lengthen our presence there this year and turn it into a marathon,” said Luke.

“With a big effort, I am sure we could raise over £2,000 – enough to fund 135 schoolbags.”

The bags are packed with everyday essentials for school such as notepads, pens, lunchbox and drinks bottle. They are then distributed among children in countries around the globe hit by natural disaster or poverty.Volunteers needed for charity 18-hour bag packing marathon!

Luke said: “We would love to get volunteers to come to the Tesco store on December 21 to pack in shifts.

“Our aim is to try and get as many of the tills filled throughout the course of the marathon and, in particular, I would like to tap in to the schools and clubs around the Yeovil area to get them involved.”

If you can spare some time on Saturday, December 21, and want to get involved – please contact info@schoolinabag.org or call 01935-849160.
