Council hopes street lighting problems to be solved

SOMERSET County Council is hoping that faulty street lighting in a residential area of Yeovil will be sorted as soon as possible.

Cllr Jon Gleeson, of Yeovil Town Council and South Somerset District Council, wrote to County Hall about problems with street lights in Bucklers Mead Road where they work sporadically and which has led to complaints from residents.

The county council has told the Yeovil Press this week that the authority knows of the problems and have spoken with contractors.

“We are aware of a problem with street lighting in the Bucklers Mead Road area of Yeovil,” said the spokesman.

“This has been caused by a fault with an underground cable owned by Scottish and Southern Energy. We have logged the fault with them and it is currently awaiting repair.”
