Woman rescued after Tesco car park smash

ONE woman had to be freed this afternoon (Sunday, November 17, 2013) from her car after colliding with a steel bollard at the main Tesco car park in Yeovil.

Two fire engines and a rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised when the alarm was raised at just after 2.15pm to the incident at the car park in Queensway Place.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival crews discovered one vehicle had collided with a steel bollard with one female casualty.

“Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to allow for the casualty to be safely extricated out of the vehicle and into the care of the Ambulance Service.”

The woman was then taken to hospital.
