Hospital abseil for Flying Colours Appeal

YEOVIL  District Hospital will be hosting a 100ft abseil today (Saturday, November 9) in aid of the Special Care Baby Unit to help towards the campaign to raise £500,000 needed to build a bigger and better unit as part of the Flying Colours Appeal.

All participants will receive a medal and a certificate on completion of the challenge and anyone that raises over £125 will also receive a free abseil t-shirt.

Sarah Cherry, community fundraiser for the Flying Colours Appeal, said: “After the success of our last abseil, we have been receiving regular requests for another abseil to be organised.

“The last abseil, earlier in the year rose over £18,000 for the Special Care Baby Unit, with over 100 people taking part. I was blown away by everyone’s determination. There were people absolutely petrified of heights, but not one person backed out of the challenge on the day.”

A spokesman for the Yeovil Press said: "Good luck to all of today's participants - very brave!"
