School head welcomes safety barrier supportA YEOVIL head teacher is delighted that proposals to improve safety at her school are being supported.

Preston Primary School on the Abbey Manor estate would like to install a railed fence along the edge of the pavement by the school entrance to act as a barrier for children between them and the road in a bid to prevent any unwanted accidents.

The matter was discussed briefly at last night’s meeting of Brympton Parish Council and the area’s county council representative, Cllr Sam Crabb, said he was in discussions with the school about the barrier.

The move was supported by the parish council last night (Wednesday, October 23, 2013) in a bid to improve safety in an area where there is always heavy traffic at the start and end of a school day.

Head teacher Bernie Green said: “We are delighted that the parish council is supporting our desire to be proactive in keeping the school children safe.”
