Dog mess problems on Abbey Manor

DOG owners have been asked to make sure they pick up the mess left behind by their animals while out and about on the Abbey Manor estate in Yeovil.

The on-going problem of dog mess reared its ugly head again last night (Wednesday, October 24) at the monthly meeting of Brympton Parish Council.

Cllr Paul Taylor said: “There are still lots of dog poo problems about.”Dog mess problems on Abbey Manor

He identified Oak Tree Park on Abbey Manor as being a particular problem area.

Parish council chairman, Cllr Liz Glaisher, said they would speak with dog enforcement officers at South Somerset District Council.

While the ongoing problem has been highlighted on Abbey Manor, there are similar issues across the Yeovil area.

A district council spokesman said: “Failure to clean up after your dog is a criminal offence.

“Dog owners who fail to clean up after their dog can be fined and even prosecuted in court.”

The spokesman added: “If anyone is aware of specific individuals who allow their dog to foul – please report it.”

Anyone wanting to report areas which suffer from dog fouling problems – please call South Somerset District Council on 01935-462462.
