Fancy a new garden feature - how about a Wessex Helicopter?

IF you have nearly £13,000 and you would like to buy an unusual garden ornament or feature – why not treat yourself to a full-size Yeovil-made Wessex helicopter?Fancy a new garden feature - how about a Wessex Helicopter?

The Wessex XT469 model was built at Westland Helicopters in Yeovil in the mid-1960s.

And there is now the opportunity to actually buy one on auction website eBay with an asking price of £12,600.

The helicopter is currently listed as being located in Blackpool and the seller has said that the aircraft could be “good for advertising purposes or as a garden ornament playground.”

The XT469 started life with the 848 Naval Air Squadron based at RNAS Culdrose and on board HMS Albion.

She was then based at Portland and was finally given to the Royal Air Force as a ground training aircraft, but was believed to have never flown under RAF ownership.

The aircraft was then finally sold to a private collector.
