Girls to be interviewed by police over Birchfield incident

POLICE have stressed that parents and children SHOULD NOT be alarmed following reports about two girls being approached near Birchfield Park this morning (Friday, October 18, 2013) in Yeovil.

There were reports on social networking sites that the children were approached by a man who tried to get them into a vehicle at around 8am.Girls to be interviewed by police over Birchfield incident

DC Catherine King, of Yeovil CID, has told the Yeovil Press: “At this stage we are treating this seriously and are investigating, but I must stress that parents and children should not be alarmed.

“We have spoken to the girls and to their headteacher and we will be interviewing the girls again later.”

This alleged incident followed two incidents involving children which happened within 45 minutes of each other on Saturday, September 28, afternoon at Birchfield Park and then there was a third incident on Monday, Spetember 30, at Rosebery Avenue.
