Two people rescued from house fire
TWO people had to be rescued this morning (Monday, October 14, 2013) from a fire at a South Somerset home.
The alarm was raised at just after 2.45am to a property in Eastover, Langport, and two fire engines from Martock and one each from Somerton and Ilminster attended.
One adult male casualty was removed from the semi-detached home with serious injuries, while one adult female also suffered smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “This was a small electrical fire in the first-floor bedroom.
“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
Fire crews gave first-aid treatment to the casualties before the ambulance paramedics arrived.
Police were also in attendance.
