Two people rescued from house fire

TWO people had to be rescued this morning (Monday, October 14, 2013) from a fire at a South Somerset home.

The alarm was raised at just after 2.45am to a property in Eastover, Langport, and two fire engines from Martock and one each from Somerton and Ilminster attended.Two people rescued from house fire

One adult male casualty was removed from the semi-detached home with serious injuries, while one adult female also suffered smoke inhalation.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “This was a small electrical fire in the first-floor bedroom.

“The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”

Fire crews gave first-aid treatment to the casualties before the ambulance paramedics arrived.

Police were also in attendance.
