Kitchen fire at Somerton

FIREFIGHTERS from Somerton and Martock were called out last night (Friday, August 30) to deal with a kitchen fire.

The alarm was raised at 10.15pm and officers attended the incident at a property in Laburnum Drive, Somerton, after the occupant called for help.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival at the scene the officers confirmed there had been a fire within the cooker which was out on arrival.

“The crews ventilated the property and made the scene safe.”
