GCSE results 2013: Sherborne Girls School celebrates

SHERBORNE Girls School is celebrating for a second time this summer with the announcement of a record number of A* passes at GCSE - just a week after record-breaking A* results at A-Level.

This year 47% of all the grades awarded were at A*, while 76% of all papers achieved an A* or A grade. Ninety-two per cent of papers were marked at A*, A or B grades.

Three girls achieved an outstanding 11 A* grades each, namely Polly Pentreath, Amelia Rogers and Maja Vlahovic. Another three girls achieved 10 A* grades each: Rachel Bucklow, Charlotte McNair Scott and Jemima Middle.

Seven girls achieved 9 A* grades each: Alicia Baines, Isabella Elwes, Alice Mackean, Antonia Matthew, Flora Ritchie, Isabelle Stone and Emily Williams.GCSE results 2013: Sherborne Girls School celebrates

An impressive 23 girls achieved 7 A* grades or more and the total number of A* grades achieved by the whole year group was 362. These results represent the best A* percentage results for the School to date.

Headmistress Jenny Dwyer said: “Once again, we are delighted that the hard work of our students and teachers has been rewarded with such an outstanding set of results, particularly this year when there was a degree of uncertainty.

"We also very much welcome the superb news that the number of A* grades recorded at both GCSE and A level is at an all time high. Congratulations to everyone - I look forward to welcoming back our GCSE achievers into our Sixth Form, along with a number of new pupils, for the Michaelmas Term which starts on Monday 2 September.”
