THE first-ever Wessex Truck Show at Yeovil Showground has been a massive hit with big lorry enthusiasts.Wessex Truck Show is truckin' good!

Good weather, large crowds, trucks galore – the show over the past weekend (August 10-11) must surely become an annual event in the Yeovil social calendar.

Organisers Dave Cross, Mark Parsons, Paul Cosh and Simon Edworthy – known collectively as Fosse Way Events Ltd – should take a huge bow for all the hard work they have put into making the show such a success.

It was not until you arrived at the Yeovil Showground and saw the hundreds of trucks all parked up neatly and gleaming would visitors appreciate the huge volume of work which must have gone on into organising the show.

If visitors did not appreciate the work put in – perhaps they should now while reading this report.

“It is hoped that this event will become an annual one and will be a regular opportunity for local traders and hauliers to help fundraise for local worthy charities,” said the organisers.

This year’s charity recipients were St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice and the British Institute for Brain Injured Children.

The team of four decided to put on the show after they heard the ever-popular Truckfest was no longer going to be held at the Bath and West Showground.

“As we knew that the show was extremely popular with local hauliers, we decided to keep the concept alive naming our version the Wessex Truck Show – with Wessex being synonymous with the area.”

There is no doubt that the Wessex region should be rightly proud of their efforts.
