Cheryl, 65, of Yeovil, is now looking forward to a well-earned lie-in having started work for South Somerset District Council in the repairs team before moving into a housing role.

This was followed by another change of direction into the information technology team with the council, where she stayed until she was transferred to South Somerset Homes and ultimately Yarlington in 2009.

Starting by 6am, long before anyone else comes into work, has been the pattern of the day for Cheryl, who is now looking forward to an occasional lazy morning, when not on babysitting duty for her nine-month-old granddaughter.

“The best thing about this job has been the people,” said Cheryl at her farewell party. “I wish everyone at Yarlington the very best future.”

Information technology manager Chris Bragg added: “Cheryl has become a real pillar of the company and particularly of our team. I want to thank her for everything she has done over the years. We will all miss her.”

As well as her family commitments, Cheryl is looking forward to having more time to spend on her hobbies of horse-riding and needlework.
