College continues funding for County Bus Ticket for students

YEOVIL College has announced that it will continue to offer all full-time students £300 towards the Somerset County Bus Ticket in the next academic year.

The college began offering students this travel bursary in 2012, when funding cuts led to increased travel costs.  This bursary is unrelated to other funding opportunities available to students, full details of which can be found on the college website.College continues funding for County Bus Ticket for students

Unlike similar schemes offered by other providers, any student studying a full-time Further Education course at Yeovil College is eligible for the £300 contribution towards their Somerset County Bus Ticket.

There are no other terms and conditions.  Subject to operator restrictions, students travelling within Somerset or into the county from Dorset can use the Somerset County Ticket to reach Yeovil College.  Full details are available on the Somerset County Council website.

The same contribution will be made to students travelling from within Dorset to the North Dorset Technical College in Shaftesbury.

Director of 14-19 Vocational Curriculum at Yeovil College, Andy Perlejewski, said “Students from across Somerset choose to come to Yeovil College for its high quality teaching, excellent facilities and expertise in a range of cutting-edge industries.

“We wanted to ensure that they didn’t have to worry about the cost of bus travel and choose where they studied based on what they wanted to learn and their ambitions rather than how much they could afford.

“Our students are at the forefront of our decision making and we aim to provide meaningful opportunities to anyone who wants to learn and progress at Yeovil College.”
