FAMILIES are invited to take part in a one-mile sponsored walk around the grounds of the National Trust’s Montacute House on Tuesday, July 30, to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil District Hospital.

Children of all ages are being encouraged to take part in the Toddler Toddle with their families to support the Flying Colours Appeal which is aiming to raise £500,000 for the new unit.

A minimum sponsorship of £10 is required per family who are all invited to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds either during or after the walk.Toddler Toddle for the Flying Colours Appeal

Each family will be given a poster to wear so that they can write down why they are taking part.

Helen Mills and her son Hugo are participating to say thank you to the Special Care Baby Unit for everything they did for Hugo, who spent four weeks in the Unit.

Helen said: “We are just happy to do anything we can to help and the more money we raise the better!”

There will also be a bouncy castle and a mini craft market on the day and Peppa Pig will be making an appearance and taking part in the toddle.

Sarah Cherry (pictured above), community fundraiser for the Flying Colours Appeal, said: “The car park at Montacute takes around 280 cars, and we are hoping to fill it.

“The event is just about having a nice day out with the family and as it is at the start of the school holidays we are hoping that lots of families will be looking for something to do!”

The Toddler Toddle is the latest in a series of events organised for the Flying Colours Appeal to provide a state-of-the-art environment to deliver essential care needed for families and staff.
