Happy birthday Piers Simon!

FORMER Preston School and Yeovil College student Piers Simon would have been celebrating his 42nd birthday today (Tuesday, May 28).

But tragically Piers (pictured below) was one of the thousands who perished in the Asian tsunami of Boxing Day 2004 when he was holidaying in Thailand. He was aged just 33.

The popular landscape gardener is deeply missed by his friends and family, but his name and his memory lives on with the Piers Simon Appeal.

The PSA was formed following his death and has raised 100,000s of pounds for projects in areas around the globe which have been hit by natural disasters.

The PSA’s main fundraiser of the year, the Home Farm Fest, is now less than a fortnight away when Piers’ family home at Home Farm in Chilthorne Domer will be transformed into a festival site for three days from June 7-9. The festival will feature 54 acts on three stages.

It will kick-off on Friday, June 7, with Posh Frocks and Wellies, and then run through all day on Saturday, June 8, and finish with an afternoon concert on Sunday, June 9, finishing at 4pm.

Tickets are available from www.homefarmfest.co.ukand are priced £10 each for the Friday and Sunday shows, plus £15 for Saturday or you could buy a £30 weekender ticket.
