Student midwives will be on hand to share their experiences and offer advice on applying for a university place to study midwifery.

The event will be held in the hospital’s Academy and lunch will be provided. It is aimed at sixth form students and above.

Midwifery Practice Educator, Sara Stride, said: “We are inundated with requests for work experience placements in maternity, which we are not able to provide due to the sensitive nature of our work.

"A Day with Midwives will provide the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the role of the midwife and the opportunity to meet some of the midwives who are keen to share their experiences.”

There is a £50 charge for the day to cover costs and lunch will be provided. To find out more please contact Sara Stride at sara.stride@ydh.nhs.uk or to book a place email Elaine Cox in the academy at Elaine.cox@ydh.nhs.uk. The closing date for bookings is March 1, 2013.
