Supersonic car roaring in

VISITORS to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at RNAS Yeovilton will get a rare chance this month to see a supersonic jet and rocket powered car.

People will be able to get up close and personal with Bloodhound SSC (pictured above) from Wednesday, February 20, to Sunday, February 24.

Bloodhound SSC is a supersonic jet and rocket powered car designed to break the land speed record and reach speeds in excess of 1,000 mph. It weighs over seven tonnes and the engines produce more than 135,000 horsepower - more than six times the power of all the Formula 1 cars on a starting grid put together.

There will be an impressive exhibition where, in addition to seeing the amazing full size Show Car, visitors can meet the Bloodhound team and marvel at the awesome EJ200 Eurofighter jet engine and 6ft Hybrid rocket will power the car on its record breaking attempt.

The car and exhibition will be displayed in the same exhibition hall where Concorde, the first supersonic passenger aircraft and the Fairey Delta Two, the first aircraft to travel at more than 1000mph, are also on display.
