Marathon challenge for Twisted Cider duo

Marathon challenge for Twisted CIder duo

FRIENDS Shane Green and Ben Weller (pictured) were seen in training today in the chilly temperatures of the Yeovil Country Park in preparation for their marathon challenge later this year.

The duo make up the Twisted Cider team and will be taking part in the 2013 Virgin London Marathon on 2013 for Cancer Research – but they will be carrying a cider press weighing an astonishing 80kg.

Last year the pair ran with friends Kevin and Chris in the Bath Half Marathon and raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research by completing the 13.1-miles in under two-and-a-half hours.

But from four, the Twisted Cider team is now down to two with places in the London Marathon at more of a premium, but Ben and Shane are determined to complete the 26-miles and 385 yards of the capital route and raise more than £5,000 for Cancer Research.

Shane knows only too well about the Big C, having had a skin cancer scare himself in 2006. Fortunately, however, he was treated successfully after having a malignant melanoma removed.

Ben and Shane were out in Ninesprings – the YeovilCountryPark – this afternoon training running with the cider press.

Twisted Cider is a small artisan cider producer in Longburton, Dorset, and Cancer Research UK has been Twisted Cider’s charity of choice for some years now with Ben doing his second marathon and Shane Green running his third marathon in April.
