Musical students hit the right note

LEWESTON School at Sherborne was delighted to kick the New Year off with some record breaking news in the music department.

The three Leweston Sixth-Formers who took their ATCL (Associated Trinity College, London) Performance Diplomas in November hit the right note with examiners.

Ellie Byfield on saxophone, Emily Yang on the piano and Imogen Massey on the flute all passed their diplomas with both Ellie and Imogen achieving distinction.

To achieve a distinction at diploma level, which is equivalent to the first year of a Music Conservatoire Degree course, is an exceptional achievement and these results represent a statistical record for Leweston.

Director of music at Leweston, Claire Hawkes, said: “We are delighted with these outstanding results which reflect each girl’s dedication and hard work.”
