COUNCIL officials will be meeting with disabled people in Yeovil later this month to get their views on how the town’s transport issues should be addressed in the years to come.Disabled urged to have their say on Yeovil transport issues

Somerset County Council has just begun to develop the Yeovil Transport Strategy Review 2. This town-wide initiative will guide the development of the transport network within Yeovil until 2028.

It is planned that the strategy will identify the transport needs to accommodate all of the growth planned for Yeovil over the next 15 years and help to attract investment into the area.

The development of the strategy is in its early stages and Somerset County Council would like YOUR views on the current transport system in Yeovil and any ideas you may have for addressing any transport issues.

A disability workshop has been arranged for Tuesday, January 29, at the Yeovil Baptist Church in South Street, Yeovil, from 10.30am until 12.30pm and will be led by the council.

Places are limited for the meeting and will be allocated to ensure a range of impairments are represented.

Compass Disability Services are involved with the meeting and transport, care and communication support can be arranged for the meeting with the costs met by them.

If you would like to attend the meeting please contact Mandy at Compass as quickly as possible – preferably tomorrow (Thursday, January 17) – on 0330 333 0089 or 01823-282823 or e-mail mandy@compassdisability.org.uk .

Compass spokesman Clive Rymer added: ‘’If you are unable to attend and would like to contribute your views please contact us and we can arrange to send a copy of the presentation and a feedback form.’’
