Laws welcomes Deputy PM visit to Yeovil

YEOVIL MP David Laws has welcomed the Deputy Prime Minister's recent visit to the town.

Deputy MP and Liberal Democrat leader, Nick Clegg, was in Yeovil on Friday where he visited with Mr Laws the AgustaWestland helicopter manufacturing factory.

Mr Clegg said the important Yeovil employer would benefit from a 'massive boost' following the company's successful bid as part of the Regional Growth Fund.

During his visit to AgustaWestland, Mr Clegg was given a tour of the factory by the company’s chairman, Graham Cole, and spent time meeting employees and apprentices working on the company’s new commercial helicopter project.

Mr Laws said: “I’m pleased that the Deputy Prime Minister took the time to visit AgustaWestland to see first hand the excellent work that the company does, which has benefits not just for our area but for the wider UK economy.

“AgustaWestland is one of the biggest and most successful employers in the country, and it is a tribute to the excellent work done by Graham Cole and his team, that the Deputy Prime Minister wanted to personally see the company’s new commercial rotorcraft project, which will be funded by the Coalition’s Regional Growth Fund.''
