Walking the Great Wall of China for charity

A DYNAMIC mother and daughter duo from Yeovil have just returned from a five-day trek across the Great Wall of China.

Walking the Great Wall of China for charityKate Hayden and her daughter Holly, who is aged just ten (pictured left), along with their friend Nicky Rowley, have raised £1,200 for the Cystic Fybrosis Trust and the Yeovil Heartbeat Coronary Care Unit - two causes very close to their hearts.

Kate said: “Nicky’s father is currently undergoing treatment at the Heartbeat unit and it also where I trained as a Cardiac Rehab Instructor so I have seen first hand the amazing work they do there.”  Walking the Great Wall of China for charity

Kate is also extremely proud of her daughter Holly.

"Many trekkers in the group said that having someone so young on the challenge really helped motivate them when they were struggling, she was a definite morale booster when the going got tough," she said.

It’s not too late to still donate via the trio’s page www.charitygiving.co.uk/westcokertochina and, as the trip was self funded, 100% of all donations go straight to charity.

And Holly (pictured right with mum Kate and friend Nicky Rowley) added: "It was incredible."
