The School in a Bag initiative delivers rucksacks full of stationery, learning resources and eating utensils to poor, vulnerable and disaster affected children around the world.

Originally a familiar face on Children’s BBC, Angellica has appeared on many television shows and has been a reporter on the BBC’s The One Show since it first aired back in 2005. She is a keen athlete and has run the London Marathon, the Great North Run (five times) and was runner-up in the ITV celebrity Arctic adventure show 71 Degrees North last year.

Angellica said: “It’s a real honour for me to become patron of School in a Bag, run by the Piers Simon Appeal. I have been following the progress of this fantastic initiative and I am so pleased to see it growing.

"Through my role as a presenter – and now a mum – I know just how important it is that children have the equipment to help them learn and get a stable education. It is incredible to think that in this day and age there are children who do not have access to the contents of a SchoolBag and that’s why I am proud to support the charity’s life changing work.”

Charity liaison officer, Luke Simon, added: “We are thrilled to have Angellica on board. She is very much in the public eye so we hope she will be able to help us spread the word about the School in a Bag initiative and bring it to the attention of more people.

"She is also great fun and very sporty so a perfect match for our fundraising challenges. We look forward to welcoming her to some of our events in 2013.”

The Piers Simon Appeal is a disaster relief charity that delivers aid worldwide through donations and via the School in a Bag initiative, which has helped over 35,000 vulnerable children across the globe.
