Leweston pupils cook up a treat for James Martin

A PUPIL from Leweston School in Sherborne has taken second placed at the regional round of the National Make it with Mince competition - hosted by judged by TV chef James Martin.   Leweston pupils cook up a treat for James Martin

Hollie Clarkson, of Year Nine, came runner-up whil Aoife McCarthy, a Year Ten pupil at Leweston, was also highly commended.

Hollie and Aoife beat hundreds of other competitors in the district round of the competition to make it to the South West Regional Round where they had to design and cook a dish costing less than £10 using either beef or lamb mince.

Celebrity television chef James Martin judged the dishes and awarded Hollie second place for her dish of samosas with mango chutney, she was beaten to first place by only one point!  Hollie won £100 worth of John Lewis vouchers and both girls came away with a James Martin master class cookery book and a set of chef whites.
