POLICE arrested 37 people during 24 hours of action for Operation Relentless across the Yeovil and surrounding area.    37 arrests across Yeovil police area in day of action

Four drugs warrants were carried out over the course of the day yesterday in Yeovil, East Coker, Street and Shepton Mallet.

In Yeovil, officers seized suspected Class A and Class B drugs as well as other drug related equipment and arrested one man.

In East Coker, officers seized a number of cannabis plants in various stages of growth as well as dried cannabis. Two people were arrested in relation to this offence.

Officers in Street seized a quantity of cannabis and arrested one man while in Shepton Mallet police seized suspected Class A drugs and also made an arrest in connection with this.

37 arrests across Yeovil police area in day of actionThroughout the course of the day and night other activity included arrests on suspicion of bilking, theft, burglary and criminal damage as well as for non-payment of fines. Police horses also patrolled in Yeovil during the day to provide a high visibility policing presence.

Insp Jamie Rees said: "This has been a very successful day of action. We carried out a number of warrants from the early hours of the morning with teams looking at a range of offences, such as drugs offences, theft and burglary.

"The arrests have included arrests for non-payment of fines and for failing to appear at court. All these offences have had an impact on a victim somewhere down the line and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice.

"These days of action are a great way to expand upon the work already taking place on a daily basis. It is part of the latest Relentless campaign which is still ongoing across the force and has included a wide range of proactive crime prevention work as well as carrying out hundreds of warrants.''
