One fire engine and a rescue tender from Yeovil were mobilised along with a fire engine from Somerton to the incident when the alarm was raised shortly before 6pm.

The incident involved a two-vehicle collision and one person was trapped inside the wreckage.

Officers used cutting equipment to remove doors and roof to help free the casualty.

Police and ambulance officers also attended and the casualty was left in the care of paramedics.
