Booklets dropping through letterboxes for Police Commissioner elections

PEOPLE in South Somerset and across the Avon and Somerset police region are urged to keep an eye out for specially commissioned booklets dropping through their letterboxes.

The booklets feature important information about the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election.

Delivery of the booklets to all households will start during the week beginning Monday, October 22, and delivery should be completed by Friday, November 2, 2012.

The booklets will be delivered as un-addressed mail along with the general post. The PCC booklet has been produced by the Electoral Commission and is specific to the PCC elections.

The PCC election takes place on Thursday, November 15. For the first time ever, voters will have the chance to elect a PCC, who will determine how police services are run in the Avon and Somerset region.

The PCC booklet has been produced by the Electoral Commission in a bid to ensure everyone eligible to vote understands what the election is all about, what is a PCC, the voting system and when and where to vote.

Additional information along with the information about the candidates will be made public from October 26 and can be found on a dedicated website: www.choosemypcc.org.uk.

The distribution of the PCC booklets coincides with a national, TV and radio publicity campaign. Anyone who does not receive a copy of the PCC booklet by November 2 should contact the Electoral Commission’s helpline, tel. 0800 328 0280 or visit: www.electoralcommission.org.uk.
