Information evening for potential students at Yeovil College

YEOVIL College is holding a Full-time Information Evening at its Mudford Road campus on Monday, October 22, giving potential students and their parents their first look at the area’s newest A Level Academy.

The A Level Academy is a £1.1 million development project which aims to create a space to meet the specific needs of A Level students.

The Academy currently includes state-of-the-art teaching and study areas, including open plan Science laboratories, designed to stimulate and support students as they work towards their qualifications.

YeovilCollege has undertaken a series of large-scale development projects in recent years and visitors will also have the opportunity to see the Nexus Hair and Beauty Salons, Renaissance Diner and refurbished Da Vinci Restaurant, all formally opened earlier this year.  Existing specialist facilities, such as the Engineering workshops and Media studio, will also be open.

Staff and students will be on hand around the campus to answer questions about the exciting courses offered at YeovilCollege and how they can help them fulfil their potential.

The College provides a wide range of courses to suit all ambitions, including A Levels, vocational courses and Apprenticeships, as well as specific programmes for Gifted and Talented and Foundation Learning students.

In addition, specialist support staff will be available to advise on other important topics, such as finance and travel, including bursaries offered by the College.

Yeovil College principal James Hampton said: “Information evenings, like our November taster days, are unique opportunities to get a real sense of Yeovil College and what it offers.

''At these events, potential students and their parents can ask the specific questions about what’s important to them and actually see the outstanding learning environment we offer.

''Once again this year, Yeovil College students have achieved excellent full-time pass rates, including 99% for A Level courses and 95% for Level 3 vocational courses, but information events mean that visitors can find out how Yeovil College can support them as individuals to achieve their full potential.

''We cannot emphasise enough the importance of getting all the facts before making the potentially life changing decision of where and what to study after school.
