20ft straw man burnt to the ground

AN APPEAL has been issued for witnesses after a 20ft straw man was destroyed in a fire at North Perrott.

The sculpture had been produced for the North Perrot Farm Shop's annual apple day, which is to be held tomorrow (Saturday, October 13).

A 20ft tall structure made from hay and wood had been erected in the field opposite the farm shop. It had been designed by the niece of the farm shop owner Jonathan Hoskyns.

But on the night of Thursday, October 4, the figure was set on fire and destroyed.

Police are seeking the public's help to find the culprit. They believe that someone left the scene in a truck and would like anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information, to contact them.

If you can help - please call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.
