YEOVIL NEWS: Music in the Park event to remember anniversary dates

YEOVIL Town Council is planning to hold a Music in the Park event at Yeovil Recreation Ground next year.

Plans to commemorate the 75th anniversaries of VE Day and VJ Day earlier this year were scuppered because of the onset of the coronavirus pandemic and resulting restrictions.

But now members of the council’s promotions and activities committee are determined to hold an event to mark those milestone anniversaries – despite it being 12 months late.

Councillors have agreed to pencil in the date of Saturday, June 19, 2021, for the Music in the Park event.

The committee met via the Zoom conferencing technology on September 15.

Obviously the staging of this event will depend on the situation with Covid-19 and whether it is safe to proceed. We have our fingers-crossed that by June 2021 things will have greatly improved.
