LEISURE: Abbey Hill Steam Rally basks in the sunshine

THE new Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr David Recardo, was delighted to officially open the 2018 Abbey Hill Steam Rally.

Cllr Recardo, who was inducted as the Mayor on Tuesday (May 1, 2018), was joined by his wife, Yvonne, at the rally which is being held this weekend at Yeovil Showground on Dorchester Road.

He was driven into the main arena on Saturday (May 5, 2018) on a tractor before declaring the rally open.

And he was so pleased that the event had been blessed with great weather. “We have connections,” he quipped to organisers.

The steam rally continues on Sunday and Monday (May 6-7, 2018).
