HEALTH: Breathing specialist Elaine to meet with ADHD Yeovil support group

THE Yeovil and District Support Group for families with children who have ADHD will be hearing from someone who could possibly transform their lives.

The group offers a place where people can go along and their experiences of ADHD, gain information and help each other.

Elaine Stafford has been invited to the group on Monday (April 9, 2018) to talk to people about the Buteyko Breathing method at a meeting at the Manor Hotel in Yeovil from 7.30pm.

Accredited practitioner Elaine, of the Buteyko Clinic based at the Ninesprings Centre in Yeovil, has said that by breathing properly can prove to be an “extremely effective” way of easing anxiety in children.

Elaine said that she was looking forward to speaking with the ADHD Yeovil group in the hope that she might be able to help.

“I will be explaining the Buteyko Breathing method, offering people valuable information to start using it with their children,” said Elaine.HEALTH: Breathing specialist Elaine to meet with ADHD Yeovil support group

“I will ask people to take part in some simple exercises to help explain how the method works, the benefits and expected results.

“Good breathing is so crucial to so many health concerns. Children will feel empowered once they understand how their breathing works and affects their feelings and I can help guide them to reduce symptoms.”

The Buteyko Breathing technique is a form of complementary or alternative physical therapy that proposes the use of breathing exercises primarily as a treatment for asthma and other respiratory conditions.

The method takes its name from Ukrainian doctor Konstantin Pavlovich Buteyko who first formulated its principles during the 1950s.

This method is based on the assumption that numerous medical conditions, including asthma, are caused by chronically increased respiratory rate or deeper breathing.
