YEOVILTON LIFE: Boxing packs a punch for charity

THE Royal Navy Inter-Command Boxing Championships were held at RNAS Yeovilton on Thursday (March 22, 2018) and they really did pack a punch.

The guest speaker for the night was Steve Collins – an Irish former professional boxer known as The Celtic Warrior – who held the WBO Middleweight and Super-Middleweight champion titles.

During the evening RNAS Yeovilton also recognised those on the air station who had achieved sporting excellence with its very own Sports Personality of the Year awards made across the Royal Navy and the Army.

A RNAS Yeovilton spokesman said: “While the evening was focused on the boxing the main aim of this event was to help raise money for a very worthy cause - The Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity - which does so much good work for our service men and women.”
