YEOVIL NEWS: Man About Town barber’s shop wants to be a cut above for customers with autism

OWNER of a new barber’s shop to open in the Quedam Centre in Yeovil has said he is “passionate” about helping people with autism.

Following nine hugely successful months at Yeovil’s Lynx West Trading Estate, Man About Town has relocated to a bigger venue at the Quedam centre in the heart of the town to reach a bigger audience.

And Chris Sansom, owner of Man About Town, said: “I’m looking forward to bringing our services in to the centre as it’s the retail heart of the town.

“As well as making sure we give the best men’s haircuts in town we regularly support the Autism Assemble charity and hold events dedicated to those with autism.

“At Man About Town we’re passionate about helping people with autism due to the difficulty these individuals face in having their haircut – it’s a very sensory process and they experience it very differently to the vast majority of us who take the process for granted.

“The new shop will have a dedicated wheelchair cutting station and will allow customers to benefit from bespoke appointment requirements to suit any additional needs. There will also be a disabled parking bay immediately outside the unit which will be private from the main shop setting.”

Man About Town is also currently recruiting for staff members to join the team at the new store in the Quedam Centre.

Quedam owners Benson Elliot announced on Monday (March 5, 2018) that the Man About Town barbers shop was located the Silver Street entrance to the centre below the Starbucks café.

Benson Elliot investment manager, Jonathan Ratnage, said: “We are delighted that Man About Town barbers has joined us at the Quedam.

“They will add another unique service destination to the centre along with Boswells Café and Anytime Fitness who are both due to open this spring.

“The arrival of these new brands underpin our strategy to blend a mix of leading international and UK fashion and lifestyle brands with independently developed and managed service destinations that we know will give an unrivalled and unique service, making that trip into town more varied and rewarding for our shoppers.”
