GLOVERS NEWS: Another important win for Yeovil Town’s Football League survival bid

GOALS at the start and end of the 90 minutes gave Yeovil Town a 2-0 victory over basement side Barnet at Huish Park on Tuesday (February 13, 2018) in the Sky Bet League Two.

Sam Sturridge slotted away a penalty in the opening minute of the game following a foul inside the box and then the experienced Francois Zoko doubled Yeovil’s lead and confirmed a three-point haul right at the death.

Importantly the 2-0 result pushed Yeovil up to 17th in the league table and they are now 11 points above the relegation zone.

A crowd of just 2,455 was at Huish Park for the match which signified the Glovers’ third successive League Two home victory and they have now picked-up ten points out of 12 in games following the FA Cup Fourth Round defeat against Manchester United back on January 26, 2018.

The game only went ahead following a late afternoon pitch inspection by the referee after heavy rain overnight and morning had put the fixture in doubt.

Yeovil travel to face Stevenage Borough on Saturday (February 17, 2018) and then are back at Huish Park on Saturday, February 24, 2018, for the visit of Carlisle United.

Points from those games and Yeovil will be virtually within touching distance of Football League safety for another season.
