LEISURE: Proper laugh-out-loud moments in Has Anyone Seen My Dentures?

AUDIENCES were roaring with laughter as adult members of the Yeovil-based Castaway Theatre Group put on a fabulous two-night comedy Has Anyone Seen My Dentures.

The comedy was written by Castaways’ very own Tammie Lloyd and two sell-out audiences at East Coker Village Hall laughed from start to finish at the hilarious goings-on among the residents of the fictitious SkyView Nursing Home.

Tammie herself played one of the residents as Gladys and her double act with real-life mum Lynn Lee Brown as Phyllis was priceless.

There were some great performances throughout the 11 members of the cast including Gertrude played by the super Doreen Hillier and posh Penelope played by Donna Osmond.

The relationship between Cecil (Graham Waddleton) and Mabel (Toni Pincombe) was especially memorable with hilarious scenes including Elvis and banana eating!

And who can forget Karen Caine as Maureen – she was a dancer you know – and poor old sleepy Bernadette (Andrea MacLauchlan) who had actually lost her dentures.

We should also praise Fanny (Linda Bowler) and her visiting brother Dick (Tony Robins) for adding to the comedy value.

And last, but by no means least, congratulations to Marc Batterbury for his performance as Nurse Julian who was always on hand with a smile and a cup of tea for his troublesome residents.

But it is BIG congratulations to Tammie Lloyd for penning a very funny play and audiences will be looking forward to a sequel.

Funds from Has Anyone Seen My Dentures will go towards helping to finance the Castaway Theatre Group’s youth production of Peter Pan the Musical which will be staged at the Octagon Theatre on Thursday, May 31, 2018, through to Saturday, June 2, 2018.

Tickets are priced £14 for adults and £12 for concessions, although Early Bird discount tickets priced £10 are available up until the end of February 2018.
